The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) previously had Polycom systems all connected to ISDN running over their existing network. They were struggling to make video conferencing an easy-to-use and reliable communication tool.
mvision installed Tandberg Edge 95 MXP's at the London, Edinburgh and Cardiff offices, and Tandberg Centric 1700 MXPs in the US. These were all connected to mvision's dedicated video network, enabling video conferencing to be run completely independently of RPSGB's main IT network.
With video now being run over separate bandwidth, and with the mvision network guaranteeing 99.995% reliability, users have really felt the difference. They're also much more confident in using the systems, and now expect their meetings to take place without any hitches.
RPSGB pay a single fixed monthly fee that includes unlimited point-to-point video calls.
Costain
Established in 1865, and with over 3,000 employees and a turnover of £877 million, The Costain Group is one of the UK's leading construction companies.
The ability to share knowledge and speed up the decision making process across the organisation was becoming a factor in the search for a more effective collaboration solution.
mvision installed a combination of TANDBERG desktop units and set-top systems across their offices and at roadside portacabins for building projects along motorway. These were all connected to mvision's dedicated video connection, enabling them to hold free point-to-point video calls instead of having to pay expensive ISDN rates each time they made a call.
Work to refurbish the Holmesdale tunnel and improve junction 25 of the M25 began on 6 May 2006 and was completed three months early in September 2007. With video conferencing, Costain was able to make quicker decisions and ultimately reduce lead times.
Terrence Higgins Trust
With 28 locations across the UK, the time spent by employees travelling to and from meetings was becoming significant. There are also new NHS-outsourced projects coming up that require more frequent and effective external communications.
Without the available bandwidth or the budget to build their own video network, mvision recommended a fully managed, outsourced service.
mvision installed TANDBERG desktop units across eleven offices, all connected to the mvision dedicated video network. mvision's network enabled video to be run completely independently of the organisation's main IT network, using separate bandwidth and connectivity. This eliminated any technical issues that are commonplace with traditional video conferencing.
From the time of ordering to the live launch, the whole process lasted just under two months. Employees are now able to carry out free point-to-point video calls as often as they want, with many of those calls used for HR and management meetings.
Petro-Canada
In an industry where personal mobility is the norm, the financial cost of bringing key personnel to meetings across the world was never an issue. But with several people spending 10 hours in the air for a one-hour meeting, the amount of time lost in travel and the impacts on productivity were becoming a source of concern.
mvision provided a complete planning and installation service for the entire global operation which would integrate with the existing video hardware.
A range of systems were used across the organisation from small desktop units right through to integrated boardroom AV installations. These installations comprised desktop microphones and touch screens that control the projectors, lights and blinds.
mvision installed the TANDBERG MPS 800, a multipoint bridge with ISDN gateway capabilities. Petro-Canada was then able to join up to 16 video and audio sites in one or more conferences, with the scalability to increase that to 160 video and 48 audio sites in the future if needed.
The combination of simplicity, ease of use, and easy access to video conferencing facilities ensured that they were immediately adopted by staff at all levels, who realised the potential of the system for answering their communication needs.
Employees report personal benefits – with less business and personal time lost in travel and less stress.
Benoy
International architectural practice Benoy had first brought in a video conferencing system many years ago to link their London and Nottingham offices. Despite poor picture quality, and the fact that it was difficult to use, the business recognised the potential of video conferencing and began to look around for a better solution when they opened an office in Hong Kong.
mvision provided a number of TANDBERG desktop and meeting-room video systems, all integrated into the TANDBERG Management Suite (TMS). This central management platform enabled Benoy to manage on-site and remote video systems, and provided them with a full range of scheduling and reporting services.
Ramboll-Whitbybird
As an international engineering business, Ramboll Whitbybird was aware of growing costs. With an expanding network of offices around the world, the cost of flying key individuals to meetings – frequently at short notice – was becoming significant. But there was another drain on resources, apart from airfares. The strain on top people exhausted by long hours travelling was beginning to affect productivity.
It was becoming clear that the company needed easier and more effective face-to-face communication, without the stress and cost of international travel.
The Ramboll Whitbybird team looked at solutions from a wide range of suppliers, and eventually chose Tandberg endpoints and the mvision dedicated video network.
The mvision solution runs completely independently of Ramboll Whitbybird's main IT network with separate bandwidth and connectivity, thereby eliminating any technical issues that are commonplace with video conferencing.
Video conferencing has enabled Ramboll Whitbybird to bridge the communication gap created through the increased globalisation and outsourcing of their supply chains. By bringing project teams and remote specialists together more often and at lower costs, they are shortening production times and reducing time-to-market.
